Today during our English afternoon, I introduced the media literacy project that students will be working on over the next few weeks. Students are going to invent their own cereal and then use persuasive techniques to create a cereal box that appeals to children. Some of this project needs to be completed at home. Students can start working on the graphic organizer this week at home. For the Monday after March Break, I would like students to bring in an empty cereal box and any rough illustrations or images they would like to use on their cereal box. Students will have a work period to work on this project on Monday March 23rd. I also suggested that students visit the cereal aisle during your next grocery store trip to look at some examples of cereal boxes that are targeted at children. I think this is going to be an exciting and fun project and I know the students are looking forward to working on this. If you have any questions, please let me know.
